Fall colors in the Uinta Mountains are spectacular and they are starting to change. The peak of the beautiful fall colors in the Uinta Mountains is from about September 25 to October 7. Here are some of the best hikes and drives in the Uinta Mountains for families to enjoy the amazing fall colors.

The Mirror Lake Highway out of Kamas, Utah is one of the most well-known drives in the Uinta Mountains. However, driving east from Kamas on Highway 35 is less well-known, but is just as beautiful and less busy. Highway 35 is a gorgeous highway any time of year, but in the fall the aspen trees are spectacular, and families can easily drive up to the top of Wolf Creek Pass and see some gorgeous views and amazing fall colors. This is a great way to drive out to Hidden Springs Ranch during the fall months.

Rock Creek Canyon is an amazing canyon on the south slope of the Uinta Mountains. It is beautiful in the fall and if you drive to the top of the canyon there is a reservoir called Upper Stillwater Reservoir. There is a trailhead at Upper Stillwater Reservoir that goes around the reservoir and is an easy hike for families to enjoy amazing views of the canyon and fall colors. Those families that enjoy fishing should bring their fishing gear and fish the Rock Creek canyon while they are there.

Moon Lake is a beautiful lake on the south slope of the Uinta Mountains that families can enjoy a day driving to this lake and going on a short hike. The road is paved right to the lake, so it is easy to get to the lake. There are a few beautiful hikes going right from the lake up into the Uinta Mountains. It is a great area to see the fall colors and take a hike or paddle around a beautiful lake.

Yellowstone Canyon is a gorgeous canyon on the south slope of the Uinta Mountains. It is a gravel road that goes up Yellowstone Canyon and the rough gravel road keeps the crowds down. It is a spectacular canyon and has some great fall colors and great fishing. At the end of the road is a trailhead with a couple trails into the Uinta Mountains for those families that want to hike into the mountains.

There are many amazing fall hikes and drives in the Uinta Mountains. We hope you and your family will spend some time this fall exploring the beautiful Uinta Mountains around Hidden Springs Ranch!
